US Drone:

  • On Tuesday, a Russian fighter jet collided with a US drone, causing it to crash into the Black Sea. Although every country has sovereignty over the airspace directly above its territory, there is no ownership of international airspace.
  • Official statement quote from US DOD: "What we saw were fighter aircraft dumping fuel in front of this UAV, and then getting so close to the aircraft that it actually damaged the propellor on the MQ-9."
  • Following the incident, US officials stated they would continue to fly drones in the area, while Russia denied responsibility for the collision.
