Joe Biden Meets Xi Jinping:

On Wednesday, near San Francisco, U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping had their first in-person meeting in a year. This meeting happened alongside the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference.
The U.S. and China, amidst ongoing tensions, are working on improving high-level talks. Biden emphasized the need to prevent competition from escalating into conflict and highlighted the importance of collaborating on global issues like climate change, drug control, and artificial intelligence.
They planned to discuss topics including controlling fentanyl entering the U.S., ensuring safe AI practices, and U.S. limits on China's access to advanced technology. Xi pointed out that ignoring each other isn't an option for two major nations like the U.S. and China, stressing that Earth can accommodate both countries' success. Recently, there have been positive signals in U.S.-China relations.
Before the meeting, both countries pledged to work together on environmental matters. Flight services between the two nations are increasing. Last month, China resumed large-scale purchases of U.S. agricultural products for the first time since 2017, as reported by the U.S. embassy in Beijing.

Samsung’s Gauss AI:

Samsung Electronics unveiled a new generative AI model called Samsung Gauss on Wednesday. This model, designed for use in Samsung's devices, places Samsung ahead of Apple in integrating generative AI into smartphones.
Samsung Gauss, named after mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, has several features. These include a language model for tasks like composing emails and translating text, a tool to assist software developers, and an image generation/editing capability.
Samsung plans to expand the use of Gauss in its products soon, enhancing user experiences. Meanwhile, Apple, Samsung's key competitor, has not yet released a generative AI product, though CEO Tim Cook acknowledged ongoing work in the field. Samsung's introduction of this technology marks a significant step in the evolution of AI in consumer electronics.
