CENTCOM Activity:

  • Yesterday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully executed a targeted strike in Syria, killing Abu-'Abd al-Rahman al-Makki, a senior leader of the Hurras al-Din terrorist organization. Al-Makki was a crucial figure within the group’s Shura Council, responsible for overseeing terrorist activities aimed at U.S. and Western interests from Syria. This strike highlights CENTCOM’s ongoing efforts to neutralize key leaders within terrorist networks, significantly disrupting their operations and diminishing their ability to threaten global security.
  • General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command, emphasized that the mission was part of a broader strategy to ensure the lasting defeat of terrorist organizations in the region. By targeting and eliminating leaders like al-Makki, CENTCOM aims to weaken the operational structure of these groups, thereby reducing their capacity to carry out attacks and contribute to regional instability. This approach underscores the U.S. commitment to protecting its interests, allies, and regional partners.
  • In a separate operation yesterday, CENTCOM forces destroyed an Iranian-backed Houthi missile system in Yemen. The missile system, located in a Houthi-controlled area, was identified as an immediate threat to U.S. and coalition forces, as well as to merchant vessels in the region. The destruction of this missile system was a proactive measure to ensure the safety of international waters and protect the freedom of navigation. This operation reflects CENTCOM’s ongoing efforts to mitigate threats and maintain security in strategically important maritime corridors.

RFK Endorses Trump:

  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) has announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, endorsing former President Donald Trump. This decision was revealed in a court filing prior to Kennedy’s public address, where he articulated his reasons for the endorsement. Kennedy criticized the Democratic National Committee (DNC), accusing it of undermining the democratic process by involving him and Trump in legal challenges across multiple states.
  • Kennedy contrasted his situation with that of Trump, noting that Trump had secured the Republican nomination through a transparent and competitive process, consistently engaging with the public through regular interviews. Kennedy stated that, in comparison, he no longer saw a viable path to victory in the Democratic primary. This realization led him to endorse Trump, whom he described as a legitimately nominated candidate who had previously won a national election.
  • Kennedy’s endorsement of Trump marks a significant and unexpected development in the 2024 election, particularly given Kennedy's prominent standing within the Democratic Party. His decision reflects his concerns about the integrity of the Democratic nomination process and his belief that Trump's candidacy offers a more transparent and democratic alternative. This endorsement introduces a new dynamic to the election, highlighting Kennedy's discontent with the DNC's handling of the primary process.
