Apple‘s Cyber Threat Warning:

On Wednesday, Apple issued a warning to iPhone users across 92 countries, alerting them to potential mercenary spyware attacks that could remotely compromise their devices. The notifications were distributed at 12 p.m. Pacific Time and indicated that the targeted attacks were due to the users' identities or roles. Apple emphasized the seriousness of these alerts, which are based on internal investigations and threat intelligence.
The company has a history of sending such warnings; since 2021, it has notified users in over 150 countries about similar security threats. Notably, in October of the previous year, Apple issued warnings to journalists and politicians in India, where Amnesty International later reported the detection of NSO Group's Pegasus spyware on several prominent individuals' iPhones. The recent alerts also include users from India.
Apple's notifications come amid a global uptick in state-sponsored cyber activities, often timed around electoral periods, although the company did not specify if the current warnings were related to any upcoming elections. Apple advised that providing further details could compromise their ability to detect future threats, referring to the attacks as "mercenary spyware attacks" instead of "state-sponsored" to highlight the involvement of entities like the NSO Group's Pegasus, which are known for their complexity and rarity compared to typical cyber threats.

India’s New Solar Farm:

India is on the path to significantly reducing its reliance on fossil fuels by introducing one of the world's largest clean energy farms, set to be built by Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) near a remote airstrip in Gujarat. This Renewable Energy Park is projected to have a capacity of over 30,000 MW (30 GW) and is expected to be fully operational by 2029. Currently, AGEL has already activated 1,000 MW of solar energy in the park's initial phase.
Spanning an area five times the size of Paris (538 sq km), the park will utilize both the intense solar radiation and strong wind resources of the region to maximize energy production. The technology at the site includes bifacial solar PV modules and the largest onshore wind turbine generator in India, boasting a capacity of 5.2 MW. These turbines, along with horizontal single-axis tracker systems, enhance energy capture by following the sun’s trajectory.
Moreover, AGEL is implementing its Energy Network Control Centre (ENOC) platform, which uses AI and machine learning for real-time automated plant control and monitoring. Additionally, to conserve water in the arid region of Kutch, waterless cleaning robots will be used to maintain the solar panels. This project not only aims to generate 81 billion units of clean electricity, powering about 16.1 million households but also contributes significantly to environmental protection.
