ZeroedIn Data Breach:

ZeroedIn, a provider of workforce analytics services, is alerting around two million people about a data breach that occurred in August 2023. The breach was discovered on August 8, when the company realized that an unauthorized party had accessed certain systems between August 7 and 8. This led ZeroedIn to immediately start an investigation, which revealed that the intruders had accessed or stolen files containing personal information.
The compromised data included names, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers, primarily related to customers of the U.S. variety store chains Dollar Tree and Family Dollar. ZeroedIn promptly informed Dollar Tree upon discovering that information linked to individuals associated with them was among the compromised data. This breach affected not only customers but also applicants and current and former employees of ZeroedIn's clients.
The incident has impacted nearly two million individuals, as reported to the Maine Attorney General’s Office. The affected parties are mainly connected to Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, which, according to Dollar Tree’s latest SEC filing, operate more than 16,600 retail discount stores and 17 distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada. In light of the breach, Console & Associates, P.C., a law firm specializing in data breaches, has started investigating the incident, potentially leading to a class action lawsuit on behalf of those affected.

SpaceX Launches:

Yesterday, SpaceX launched several third-party competitor satellites into low-Earth orbit as part of its commercial launch service. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 10:19 AM PST from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. This mission, named Korea 425, deployed a diverse array of 25 spacecraft from various companies and organizations. Among them were KOREA's 425, Space BD’s ISL48, SITAEL’s microHETSat, D-Orbit’s ION SCV Daring Diego, York Space Systems’ Bane, and PlanetIQ’s GNOMES-4.
The first stage booster of this Falcon 9 rocket, utilized for the 17th time, has an extensive history of supporting a range of missions, including Crew-1, Crew-2, SXM-8, CRS-23, IXPE, Transporter-4, Transporter-5, Globalstar FM15, ISI EROS C-3, and seven Starlink missions. Additionally, SpaceX's role in the competitive satellite launch market is further solidified by a recent contract with Amazon for three Falcon 9 launches. These launches are crucial for the deployment of Amazon's Project Kuiper, a satellite broadband network designed to operate in low Earth orbit.

George Santos Expulsion:

The U.S. House of Representatives, in a decisive vote of 311-114, has expelled Representative George Santos (R-NY). This decision follows revelations that Santos had fabricated much of his resume. His admissions included false claims about his education, work experience, and heritage. Additionally, a House report earlier this month accused him of misusing campaign funds for personal expenses like Botox, designer clothing, and payments on OnlyFans.
Santos' expulsion from the House on Friday marks a rare event in congressional history. He is the first Representative to be expelled without a criminal conviction or association with the Confederacy. Reacting to the vote, Santos expressed his disdain, saying, "To hell with this place." The expulsion underscores the seriousness with which the House is addressing issues of ethics and integrity among its members.
