Middle East Airspace:

  • Airlines are taking precautions by avoiding Middle East airspace and canceling flights to Israel and Lebanon due to growing concerns over potential conflict in the region. Singapore Airlines, Taiwan's EVA Air, and China Airlines have altered their flight routes to avoid Iranian airspace. Several airlines, including Air India, Germany's Lufthansa Group, United Airlines, Delta Air, and Italy's ITA Airways, have suspended flights to Tel Aviv.
  • Additionally, flights to Beirut have been canceled or delayed by various carriers after recent escalations in the region. Singapore Airlines stopped flying through Iranian airspace from early Friday morning, citing safety as its top priority. Flightradar24 data showed that Taiwan's EVA Air and China Airlines also avoided Iran on flights to Amsterdam. This follows reports of top Iranian officials meeting with representatives from Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen to discuss potential retaliation against Israel.
  • Several airlines have already been avoiding Iranian airspace due to ongoing conflicts between Iran and Israel. Despite these precautions, airlines such as Etihad, Emirates, FlyDubai, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines continue to fly over Iran. Canada has advised its aircraft to avoid Lebanese airspace for a month, and Britain has warned pilots of potential risks from military activity in the region.

Apple Account Card Availability:

  • The Apple Account card is now available in Canada and Australia with the release of iOS 17.6, marking its expansion beyond the United States, where it debuted with iOS 15.5 two years ago. This card in the Wallet app allows users to easily view their Apple Account balance, which can be used for purchases on the App Store and Apple Store online.
  • It also supports tap-to-pay at physical Apple Stores, offering added convenience. Previously available only in the US and Japan, the Apple Account card streamlines the purchasing process by replacing the older iTunes Pass, which required a QR code scan by an employee. Now, users can make direct purchases using tap-to-pay at Apple Stores.
  • Apple has a history of innovation in fintech products, starting with the introduction of Apple Pay in 2014, which revolutionized mobile payments by allowing users to make secure transactions with their iPhones and Apple Watches. Following this, Apple introduced the Apple Card in 2019, a credit card designed to work seamlessly with the Wallet app, offering daily cash-back and advanced privacy features.
  • The Apple Account card continues this trend, simplifying how users manage and spend their Apple Account balances. Setting up the Apple Account card is straightforward. Users can open the Wallet app, tap the + button, and select the option to add the Apple Account card under Available Cards. It’s important to note that a balance on the Apple Account may be required before the card can be added for the first time.
