Malaysian Data Center Development:

Gamuda, a Malaysian infrastructure company co-founded by Lin Yun Ling, has secured contracts totaling 1.74 billion ringgit ($372 million) to construct Sime Darby Property’s first data center. The facility, to be located in the Elmina Business Park near Kuala Lumpur, will enhance the region's cloud computing capabilities. Under the agreement, Gamuda Engineering will be responsible for constructing the hyperscale data center and completing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations in collaboration with Pearl Computing Malaysia.
This project marks Sime Darby's strategic entry into the data center market, a sector increasingly recognized as a critical component of modern real estate due to its role in supporting cloud computing infrastructure. The data center will occupy a site within the expansive 1,500-acre Elmina Business Park. This move comes as part of a broader trend where Southeast Asian companies, including U.S. tech giants like Amazon and Microsoft, are intensifying their cloud infrastructure in the region to support advanced computing needs like AI technology.

Key updates include a new automation service that simplifies the management of Azure Kubernetes clusters, advanced virtual machines that incorporate cutting-edge processors from Arm and AMD, and the Azure Compute Fleet service, designed to help customers efficiently determine the optimal combination of computing resources for various applications.
A highlight from the conference was the introduction of Microsoft Copilot for Azure. This generative AI tool is engineered to assist IT professionals in managing Azure's resources. Through a user-friendly chat interface within the Azure portal, users can input natural language commands to perform numerous tasks. These include accessing explanations of technical concepts, navigating the portal, modifying settings, retrieving detailed resource information, analyzing operational data, and troubleshooting or optimizing system performance.
