- Yesterday, Falcon 9 successfully launched the Axiom Space's Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2) towards the International Space Station from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Post stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage made a successful landing at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
- The Dragon spacecraft, part of the mission, is set to autonomously dock with the space station today, May 22 around 9:16 AM EST. During their stay at the space station, the crew will carry out more than 20 science and technology experiments.
- The focus of these experiments will be on human physiology, physical sciences, and STEAM, aiming to extend our understanding to improve life on Earth in fields like healthcare, materials, and technology development, and facilitate industrial progress.

US Debt Ceiling:
- US President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy are set to meet for discussions on the debt ceiling issue today. This follows a phone call that both parties deemed productive.
- The meeting comes as a June 1 deadline approaches, set by the Treasury Department, after which the federal government could default on its debts. Biden has indicated openness to spending cuts and tax adjustments to reach an agreement, but termed the latest Republican proposals unacceptable.
- As these negotiations continue, financial markets are feeling the pressure with the US recently having to pay record-high interest rates on a debt offer. McCarthy stated Republicans support a defense budget increase along with overall spending cuts (-8%).
- Given the delicate balance in Congress, bipartisan support is needed to pass a deal. McCarthy has pledged to provide lawmakers with 72 hours to review any agreement before voting.
