TikTok Ban:

  • The US government may ban TikTok due to Chinese data privacy concerns. The CCP has a 1% stake and special rights in ByteDance which grants board influence.
  • TikTok created Project Texas, where an independent board oversees national security-related content, approved by CFIUS, to address US concerns.

  • If passed, the Act allows enforcement of mitigation measures for any transactions or property in the US.
  • It covers ICT operation and maintenance and permits surveillance and censorship based on election interference claims.
  • Companies or assets can be forced to sell on presidential decree if deemed a national security threat, granting extensive access.
  • They can access your wifi, home computers and even your mobile devices.
  • A 'criminal' breach under the Act, such as using TikTok through a VPN, could levy a fine of $1 million, imprisonment for 20 years and your property seized.
