In a high-profile gathering taking place this week in Lisbon, Portugal, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will be meeting with prominent figures from the tech industry and political arena.
Altman will engage in discussions with tech industry leaders, such as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, DeepMind's Demis Hassabis, and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, at the annual Bilderberg Meeting, with artificial intelligence expected to be a significant point of discussion.
Not limited to tech, the meeting will also host political figures including former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, and Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
This private event is expected to host around 130 participants from 23 countries, with discussions anticipated to cover international relations, trade, energy, tech, and finance.

META AI Chips:

Meta announced the development of custom computer chips, aimed at improving performance in artificial intelligence and video-processing. This announcement was made public to reporters earlier this week, prior to a virtual event scheduled to discuss Meta's AI technical infrastructure investments.
Despite the high costs associated with designing and manufacturing proprietary computer chips, Alexis Biorlin, Meta's Vice President of Infrastructure, stated that the expected performance enhancements would justify the investment.
Alongside these initiatives, Meta is also modifying its data center designs to increase energy efficiency, including the implementation of techniques like liquid cooling to mitigate heat generation.

SpaceX:

Today, SpaceX has two launches planned. First, the Iridium OneWeb mission is set to launch at 6:19 a.m. PT from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, with a backup opportunity tomorrow at 6:15 am PT.
Secondly, 22 second-generation Starlink satellites are scheduled to be launched at 12:41 am EST from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, with multiple backup slots available today and tomorrow.
On Sunday, May 21, SpaceX plans to launch the Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2) to the International Space Station using the Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon spacecraft. The crew for this mission includes astronauts Peggy Whitson, John Shoffner, Ali Alqarni, and Rayyanah Barnawi.
They will be launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. During their stay on the station, the crew will conduct over 20 different experiments to further our knowledge in various scientific fields and contribute to improvements on Earth.

OpenAI has launched a new ChatGPT app for iOS, free to download from the App Store. This app includes OpenAI’s Whisper, an open-source speech-recognition system, allowing voice commands.
ChatGPT Plus subscribers receive exclusive access to GPT-4's capabilities, early access to iOS features, and quicker response times. The new app is part of OpenAI's effort to offer its chatbot services on mobile platforms.
Uber is rolling out a new feature to allow unaccompanied teenagers, aged 13 and over, to use its ride service in select cities. Teens will use special accounts linked to family profiles.
These accounts will only connect them with experienced, highly-rated drivers, and parents will be able to monitor the rides in real-time. The move is part of Uber's strategy to expand its user base.
